Environmental Initiatives

slide-image

Our goal is to contribute to the creation of a better
life and the development of society not
only through
our products, but also as a company that is
environmentally conscious.
Here we introduce some of our major environmental
activities.

Introduction of
solar power generation
in company buildings

Solar power generation is one of the most promising solutions to the problem of energy resources, and it is also very clean, as it does not emit CO2 during the generation process. We have installed solar panels on our head office building. We are working to preserve the environment by adopting clean energy that is friendly to the global environment.

Use of Unipac® Bio

GLASEL ships samples to customers on a daily basis. We introduced Unipac® Bio because we wondered if we could change the bags we use to send out more samples each day to be more environmentally friendly. Compared to the polyethylene bags used in the past, Unipac® Bio reduces CO2 emissions by about 20%, helping to conserve petroleum resources and reduce CO2 emissions. We are trying to be environmentally friendly not only in our products but also in the materials we use around us.

Planting Cherry Trees in Mt Yoshino

In order to pass on the beautiful cherry blossoms of Mt. Yoshino to future generations, GLASEL is supporting the cherry blossom protection and nurturing project of the Yoshinoyama Hoshokai, a public interest incorporated foundation.
On March 3, 2020, ex-president Tanimura and four employees planted cherry trees at Mt. Yoshino in Nara Prefecture.

Switching paper bags
and envelopes

In addition to Unipac® Bio, a zippered bag made from plant-derived materials, we are gradually switching to eco-friendly paper bags for sample delivery and envelopes for documents. In making the switch, we are using "forest certified paper" as the base paper for paper bags and envelopes, and "vegetable oil ink*" as the ink used in printing.
* Inks whose oily content is partly made up of renewable plant-derived oils, such as soybean oil and coconut oil, or recycled oils, instead of petroleum.

Expected benefits
for environmental protection

01
Reduction of volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
02
Easy to separate ink and paper for easy recycling of printed materials
03
Easily decomposed in the soil even when landfilled as garbage

Participate in
the "Plastic Smart" campaign

We support and participate in the "Plastic Smart" campaign, a nationwide initiative by the Ministry of the Environment to promote a "smart way to deal with plastic" to reduce marine plastic waste. We will continue to increase our efforts in the future.
